Saturday competition
Saturday saw the members play a 4BBB Versus Par event, one of which has not been played at the club for many a
year.
Old salts Graeme Scott and Ron Little showed all how it should be done returning +10 to win the day. Ronny also
partnered Peter Browning to take out second place on +9.
The ruundown included Patrick Camm/Nick Watson +8, Trevor Paroz/Peter Fox +8, Chris Harvey/Anna Winterbourn +8,
Bob Platt/Matthew Bluck +8 and Lewis Tuck/Rod Wecker +8. The rundown went to +6.
Pin shots went to Justin Butler on 10, Ron Little on 13 and Wayne Handley on 16.
Thursday club
With Santa's sleigh fading on the horizon and New Years Eve festivities ramping up, it was an exciteable crew
that took to the course in the Mens' Thursday Club event.
Carrying a fistful of presents, and with his favourite toy submarine under his arm, it was a revitalised Tom
Fleming who made the magic double, collecting both the 9 and 18 hole winners trophies.
The magic started in the 9 hole event with Fleming returning 23 points to win from runner-up Lewis Tuck on 22
points.
The rundown included Bill Rogers 21 points, Dave Rumble, Garry Flannery 19 points and completing the rundown on
18 points were Ron Little, Wayne Handley and John Roser.
With the 9 hole trophy safely in his keeping, and with a full sail it was a determined Fleming that kept the
momentum going, taking out the 18 hole event with 42 points.
Runner-up was John Dodds on 40 points from Ron Little, John Grosskreutz, Wayne Handley 38 points, while
completing the rundown on 37 points were Graeme Scott and Rod Wecker.
Pin shots went to Rob Stanley on 10, Trevor Paroz on 13 and Lewis Tuck on 16.
Shot of the day must go to John Grosskreutz on the 14th hole, holing out for 2 shots from 155 metres with his 3
wood.
Chook Run
The Chook Run attracted 24 keen players this week. The big winner again was submariner Tom Fleming, returning
28 points to win on the coin toss from runner-up Gav Noonan. Card draw went to Patrick Camm who was not present.
This Week
This Saturday sees the first Airlie Beach Hotel Monthly Medal for 2012.
