WHITSUNDAY GOLF CLUB
RESULTS 11th NOVEMBER, 2007
The Club travelled down to Halliday Bay this week-end for the Christmas break-up and re-match of our ongoing challenge with them.
The Halliday Bay team had 390.25 and the Whitsunday Club had 356.5, which makes the Whitsunday Club winners again by 33.75.
We played an Ambrose and the winners on the day were Rob McFarlane and Paul Verdon with a great score of 51.5 net. Runners-up were Paul and Elaine Philpott on 54 net.
Nearest the pins were won by the teams of: Chris Bailey/Peter Browning; Tommy Maaka/Al Duncan; and Paul & Elaine Philpott.
We had a terrific week-end and it was nice to see Jim & Paula Benny fly in from the Gold Coast just to play with us for the week-end.
Next week will be a 9-hole stableford.
JUNIORS
The juniors played their 9 hole competition on Friday and Joe Wecker put an end to Phillip Walkers string of wins. Simon Dobbins, Chris Elms and Josh Laughton also won balls in the rundown.
CHOOK RUN
Don Hope played the golf of his life to streak the field in this week's chook run. A convincing winner, Hope shot 40 to post a nett score of 26, 10 shots clear of the next competitor, Ken Todd. Ever present, Ron Jamieson won the card draw and collected his prize.
DAWNBUSTERS
The jubilation couldn't be contained as many revelers drank to Paul Skelton (skello) victory on Sunday in the Dawnbusters. Having the least number of putts and a nett score of 34, Skello edged out Billy O'shea, who was still sore and sorry from his Melbourne cup celebration, and Barry Mackenzie who both got 35 nett. Larry Muller and John Albertson collected the pin shots on #2 and #9 respectively. Dave Thomas got the snake putter and Rob Stirling received the Brahmans in the strong field of 30.
