WHITSUNDAY GOLF CLUB
Sunday March 18th, 2007The Club had a great turn-out this week on a perfect Whitsunday morning for a
9-hole Stableford.Winner of A-grade was Keith Hartley with 22 points and runner-up was Tony Rees on 19 points on a count-back from Chris Bailey.
Winner of B-grade was Kym Hill on 23 points with runner-up Mick Cooper on 21 points.
Winner of C-Grade was Elaine Philpott on 24 points and runner-up was Adam Stralow on 23 points.
Longest drives were won by Darren Williams and Elaine Philpott.
Nearest the pins were won by Matt Benny for A-grade and Adam Stralow for C-grade.
The Eagles Nest was won by Jimmy McGaffin with a great shot on the 16th.
The Dummy Spit Award was won by Yorky this week.Next Sunday will be a 9-hole Medley Stableford.
Dawnbusters
Twenty Dawnies were out early on Sunday morning to play their 9 hole competition. Bread Albertson was the winner with 42 gross/ 36 nett, runnerup was Garry Simpson with 46 gross/ 38 nett followed by Jack Spruce with 58 gross. 39 nett. Brad also won the pinshot on number 2 and Gary won the shot on number 9. Alan Greedy was nicknamed 'Angry" and won the Snake putter prize, Tim McBride had the least number of putts and Graeme Stoodley won the Bradman's prize.
Friday Chook Run
The chook Runners played a stableford competition last week and Lloyd Kingston had his handicap slashed by 10 points as a result of winning the comp with 28 stableford points. Trevor Nosworthy lost 6 handicap points when he beat Andrew Stroud on a countback for runnerup, they had 22 stableford points. The card draw was won by Ray Plant after 5 weeks of no winners. This week is a stroke competition on the back nine and can be played any time during the week closing at 5.30pm on Friday afternoon.
Juniors
The juniors played a 6 hole competition on Friday and the winners were Chris Elms, Kieran Shaw, Mitchell Laughton and Tayla Jeffries. Juniors are reminded that they must complete the full 6 holes of the competition to be elegible for any prizes and players must be in by 5pm.
