Home-town hero Ron Jamieson strapped on his 6-shooter and took to the 9 hole comp like Wyatt Earp. His 27 points easily won him the 9 hole event from Malcolm Hill, Bill Rogers and Joe Taylor, all on 23 points. Rounding out the 9 hole event on 22 points were Michael Ward, Geoff Rees, Tim McBride and John Roser. After last weeks bridesmaid spectacular Geoff Rees went one better in the 18 hole event, returning 47 points to win the comp. Michael Ward had 45 points to finish second while John Catling 43 points and Brad Albertsoin and Joe Taylor completed the rundown with 42 points. Pins went to Albert Pini on 2, Greg Walker on 9, Brad Albertson on 13 and Wayne Handley on 16.
A seasoned Chook Run competitor, Errol Vaughan, rose to the occasion last week, returning a tidy 22 points to win the Chook Run. Just a shot behind was the inform Luchie Gardel on 21 points.
It only seemed fitting that we would continue the blistering scoring for the Saturday competition. New member Gav Noonan found the layout a little easier than most, having 49 points to win the Saturday comp by a whopping 5 points. Elspeth Scotford played well below her handicap in returning 44 points to finish second. Keystone Capers duo Rod Wecker and Lance Lloyd both had 43 points while Rob Stanley & Gary Scotford had 42 points and left-handed sweet swinger Mark Valmadre finished the rundown with 41 points.
The weekly comps will continue through the Xmas and New Year period until such time that the weather-gods play their part. This Saturday will be a Versus Par with tee-off from 6.30am. On behalf of the Proserpine Club we would like to wish all our members and visiting golfers a safe & merry Xmas.
