Whitsunday Golf Club
This week was an 18-hole Ambrose sponsored by Ron Jamieson from Caltex. Even though there were a few showers, there was a good turn-up and a fun morning was had by all. We would like to thank Ron for sponsoring the event for us.The A-grade winning team was Darren Crossley and Matt Bird with 57 net (Burglars are still rife in town)
Runners-up were Steve Fahey and D. Stafford with 59.5 net.
The Encouragement Award was won by Ian Giles and Kim Hill.Nearest the pins were won by the teams of Darren Williams/Donny Moore; Matthew Bluck/J.Connors; Chris Bailey/Chris Doblo; and K. Todd/L. Loyde.Longest Drive was won by J. Connors.Next week will be a 9-hole Stroke with a 6.30 tee-off.
DAWNBUSTERS
How quickly they fall from grace, Jaccy Thomas who was the winner last week of the Dawnbusters did a complete turn around to take out the Bradmans with the most amount of hits this week. With a bit of rain around to make the conditions a little tricky, it proved that Frank Keenan had put enough in the offering to be the clear cut winner with 31 nett. Jack Spruce was runner-up with 33 and Graham Stoodley third on 35.Skello played an ugly looking 5 wood to take the pin shot on #13, while Arthur Marriott claimed #16.Pascal had the least amount of putts for the day but still can't sell his putters. See the pro shop for anyone who is interested. The snake putter went to Mr. Grace.
CHOOK RUN
Rod Wecker has denied Mark Richards the spoils of victory when he won the chook run on a countback. With a score of 23 stableford points Rod was happy to snavle the prize from Mark's grasp. However Mark was just as content being awarded balls for second place. Beryl Nosworthy picked up the prize for the card draw.
Juniors
The juniors are back playing a 9 hole competition on Friday afternoon. Justin Connors, Chris Elms, Philip Walker and Lindsay Emmerson were the prize winners for last week. Good luck to the pennant teams playing in Ayr/Home Hill this weekend.
