Weekly Roundup - 30 November, 2009
Once again Thursday's Comp was the place the be to get amongst some first class golf. Dave Boase zipped around the front 9 in just 27 nett to take out the comp from Andrew McKay and Tim McBride who both returned a hearty 28 nett. In the rundown was Tony Woolridge (30), John Roser, Russell Reardon, Steve Wallis, Dave Rumble and Steve Mitchell all on 32 while finishing with 33 was Les Bradford, Luchie Gardel, Dave Lawrey and Paul Joice. In the 18 hole comp Les Bradford got things off to a flyer after starting his round on the back 9. Les holed his second shot on the par 4 10th hole after striking a lovely 3 wood which took all the right bounces and richote's before finishing in the hole for an eagle 2. With a steely eyed determination Les put his head down and never looked back, finishing the 18 hole comp with 60 nett to win the comp. After the round Les' playing partners were quoted as being in awe of what they witnessed as Les nonchanantly tore up the 18 hole layout with precision shot-making. The emotional Bradford hoisted his winning prize high, much to the delight of the adoring crowd that had gathered for the presentations. Andrew McKay is continuing his purple patch, returning a very tidy 62 nett to finish runner-up while Peter Scrivens finished third on 64 nett and Dave Gates and Nick Watson rounded out the rundown on nett 65. Pin shots went to Paul Joice on 2, Rob Stanley on 9, Andrew McKay on 13 and Peter Browning on 16.

The ever popular and ever growing Chook Run attracted 32 players for the week-long comp. Proserpine's newest golf coach Trevor Osborne has surely been practicing what he has been preaching as he took the back 9 by the scruff off the neck posting 34 off the stick for nett 29 to take out the comp. Also shooting 34 off the stick was runner-up Trevor Nosworthy who finished on 31 nett from Rod Wecker and Dave Ewart both on nett 32. Lucky card draw for a carton of beer this week was Rees Kaka.

Despite the heat 39 players took to the fairways on Saturday for a Single Stableford event. Up and coming junior Kate Collins revelled in the steamy conditions, returning 49 points to take out the 18 hole event. Fellow junior golfer Matt Bluck made it two seconds in a row finishing runner-up with 44 points while Peter Foot, Mick Walton and Rob Stanley finished with 41 points while Pascal Neunreuther, Gary Scotford and Bruce Marshall had 40 points. Pins went to Matt Bluck on 2, Pascal Neunreuther on 16 and former Bowen superstar Bruce Marshall secured the pin on 13 after scoring an ace.
