Proserpine Ladies Golf
There were celebrations all round last Sunday for the Christmas Lunch Awards Day.
Great food, wine and song were enjoyed by all and prizes were awarded to some deserving golfers who performed outstanding feats in 2008.
“Most Inspirational” was won by Margaret Cunningham our 83 year old tireless competitor.
Lyn Muller won a sack full of prizes for “Best Putter”, “Most Improved” and drawing with Bessie Simpson for “Chipping In”.
The “Eclectic” prize went to Roseanne Apps. “Golfer of the Year” was won by Bernice Peterson and “Outstanding Lady Member” was Jill Farinelli.
Trophies were also awarded to winners from events through the year with the major winners being “Ladies Champion” Kate Deambrogio; “Match Play Champion” Alison Day and “Medal of Medals” winner Reh Hull.
Thursday Club
Peter Lewis had his best game for a while to win the n18 hole comp with 61 net from Ron Jamieson on 63 and Bill Rogers and Les Bradford on 64. Kelvin Stephens with 29 net beat Tony Woolridge and Tom Fleming by a shot to win the 9-hole competition. Pins went to Benn Ryan, Troy Dobbins, Ron Jamieson and Pascal Neunreuther.
Drinks and nibbles will be served Dec 18.

Andrew Colborne’s 76 net 62, Bruce Marshal’s 80/62 and Rob Stanley’s 66/62 could not match Matt Bluck’s 78 net 59 to give Matt the Metropole Monthly medal. Bruce Marshall was runner-up in C grade while Andrew Colborne won B grade by a shot from Don Stafford. Rob Stanley won A grade by 3 shots from Simon Dobbins. The pins went to Lloyd Kingston, Mike Kavanagh, Ken Todd, Daniel Jackson and Chris Bridger.
Matt Bluck also won the Medal of Medals prize from Bi-Rite Electrical.
Daniel Jackson was presented with his winnings from the open handicapped match play after his hard-fought win over Andrew Mau in the final.
Going in to the final event in the Golfer of the Year, Simon Dobbins and Lloyd Kingston were tied. Simon narrowly beat Lloyd on Saturday to clinch a much deserved title.
This coming Saturday will see the 3-ball turkey day ambrose from 11 am
