Weekly Roundup - 9 November, 2009
After some astonishing scores posted from Thursdays comps the handicapper put in some overtime over the weekend drastically reducing a few of the handicaps. None more so than the in-form John Dodds who ripped through the front 9 with an impressive 28 points to be just 1 point clear of unlucky runner-up Peter Hull on 27 points. Gary Flannery 26 points, Lew Tuck and Michael Ward 24 points, Tony Woolridge, Don Moore and Brendon Russell completed the rundown with 23 points. John Dodds kept the momentum going into the 18 hole comp with a record 56 points to win by a staggering 9 points from bridesmaid for the day Peter Hull on 47 points. John Catling wound back the clock returning with 46 points while Peter Scrivens 43 points and Michael Ward, Tony Woolridge and Rob Stanley all finished on 42 points. Pins went to Al Graham on 2, Rob Stanley on 9, Benn Ryan on 13 and John Grosskreutz on 16.

19 players competed in the week-long Chook Run with both Mark Valmadre and Brad Albertson both finishing locked on 22 points. Lucky Mark Valmadre won the toss off taking the win in front of an emphatic crowd. Card draw was Elspeth Scotford who was not present.

The members played the Hotel Metropole Monthly Medal on Saturday. Michael Kavanagh won the day and the B grade medal with an impressive 63 nett in trying conditions. Runner-up B grade medal was Glen Jones on nett 66 while Albert Pini won the C grade medal on 67 nett from runner-up C grade medal Warren Deighton on nett 68. A grade medal went to Gav Milne on nett 67 on a countback from runner-up A grade Larry Muller. Rundown included Gary Scotford and Lance Lloyd on 67 nett and Dave O'Connor on nett 69. Pins went to Pascal Neunreuther on 9 and 16 and Michael Kavanagh on 13.

Sunday morning saw the annual Father Gard golf day being played in a 2 ball ambrose format with 54 golfers turning out in the testing overcast conditions. At the end of the day the Father Gard team narrowly won the day against a valent Les Stagg side. Chris Henderson and Bruce Upchurch won the day with 24 nett from Brad Albertson and Al Greedy on 25 3/4 nett while Sam Gardel and Brendon Russell won the gross event on a countback after shooting a par round of 35 from gross runner-ups Andrew Colborne and Bruce Marshall. Organisers wish to thank O'Duinns Irish Pub and the RSL.
