Weekly Roundup - August 28, 2006

Thursday Club:
Ian Powell was on fire last Thursday, shooting a personal best of 1 over 37 on the front 9 to win the 9 hole competition. His stableford score of 26 points was great but still only got him home by one point from Peter Browning on 25. Adam Stroud's lack-lustre 22 points was good enough for third spot along with Norm Rasmussen and Justin Connors.
Adam Stroud continued his satisfactory form to win the 18 hole event, in a countback, from Ian Powell, also on 42 points. Bill Woods was nipping at their heels on 41 points with Kelvin Stevens another shot away on 40. Pin Shots went to Greg Walker, Paul Joice, Les Bradford and Russell Reardon.
Saturday:
A compact field contested the single stableford event on Saturday. Greg Walker got home by a nose with a solid 42 points. Warren Deighton, Norm Ryan and Ian Powell fought out the placings, all on 40 points. Darren Draper snatched the C Grade pin shot, Bill Miller knocked it close on 10, Mark Robinson bagged a double on numbers 3 and 16 while Ian Powell dribbled it onto number 9.
Mixed Foursomes:
The annual Club Mixed Foursome Championship was held on Saturday. The defending champions, Trish McNeill and Rod Wecker, did a fantastic job to hold the trophy up again after a tough playoff. Gross runners-up Karen Oni and Gus Ogilvie made them work hard for the title, so hard in fact, that Rod needed to chip in on the first playoff hole to get the gong. The nett winning team of Beryl and Trevor Nosworthy have had a stellar year, also winning the nett prize in the Open Mixed Foursomes just 2 weeks earlier. Viv Deamartini and Bruce Munro combined well to be nett runners-up.  Pin shots went to Brian and Sue Smith on number 2, Mark Richards on number 13, Jill Farinelli on 16, and Trish McNeill and Rod Wecker on 18.
