Weekly Roundup - November 20, 2006

Thursday

Shane Haines must have had time to practice after blowing the field away with 27 points last Thursday. Greg Walker languished into second place with 24 along with Brian Smith, also on 24 points. Andy McKay shared fourth place with Tom Fleming, Peter Hull and Rob Stanley.
     Les Bradford wound back the clock, quite a few years, to score an impressive 45 points, beating Ken Whittaker who shot a solid 43. Ian Powell and Peter Lewis were just behind on 42.
     Pin Shots went to Justin Connors, Bill Woods, Joe Taylor and Ian Powell.

Saturday
     A single stroke was the event for last Saturday and Simon Dobbins decided to show his older rivals a thing or two. Shooting a fine 81, Simon's nett score of 62 was a clear 3 shot winner from Gus Ogilvie's 65. Bill Woods played well for a 66 nett along with Jason Evans.
     Pin Shots were won by Ken Whittaker, Norm Ryan, Simon Dobbins, Trevor Nosworthy and Gavin Milne.

This Weekend
     Bess and Gary Simpson will be sponsoring Saturday's Fourball Best Ball event, so organize a partner and head up to the club from 11am for an 11:45 tee off.

Dawnbusters
Allan Greedy was the Dawnies' winner on Sunday with a 51 gross/37 nett score beating s Allan Scott who had a 48 gross/ 38 nett and was runnerup  on a countback from Bruce Upchurch. Ian Bishop and Tom Flemming were the pinshot winners and Bruce Upchurch was the snake putter, Ray Plant had the least number of putts for the competition and Peter Skelton won the Bradman's prize.

Friday Chook Run
The winner of this week's stroke competition was Herb Hamilton with 23 nett, runnerup was Adam Stroud with 28 nett, third was Greg Locke with 29 nett. Andy Turner, Alec Bragg, Stephen Fahey, Don Stafford, Stewart Win, Trish McNeill, Ron Jamieson all won a ball in the rundown. The card draw was won by Beryl Nosworthy. Players are reminded that cards must be handed in by 5.30pm

Juniors
The winners of the Friday competition were Chris Elms, Simon Dobbins in division I, Fraser McBean in Division ii and Ashley and Tyler Bellingham in Division iii.

Ladies
The Wednesday ladies played a stroke and putts competition last Wednesday with Alison Day victorious on a countback from Jonny Goss on 69 nett. These new girls are certainly doing well. Viv Demartini came in in third place with 70 nett followed by Robin Biggs with 72 nett. Robin also took the shot on number 2, Lyn Muller won the shot on number 9 and Bernice was closeset to the pin on number 16. The putts were won by Kathry and Alison who both had 32 putts, well done girls. Ladies please DON'T FORGET THE BREAKUP AT WHERE ELSE ON 29 TH, EVERYONE WELCOME.

Whitsunday

The final Monthly Medal was played this week.                                                                 

Winner of A-grade was Kim Hill with 62 net.  Runner-up was Darren Crossley with 67 net on a countback from Joey Dalton.
Winner of B-grade was Jim Benny with 66 net from Darren Abrahams on 66 net on a countback.
Winner of C-grade was Ron Chant with 65 net from Billy O'Shea on 68 net.Longest drive was won by Chris Bailey.  Both nearest the pins for A-grade were won by Darren Crossley.  B-grade pins were won by Darren Abrahams and Adam Stralow and the C-grade winner also took out the nearest the pin.

Word has it that Kerry made a land claim on Pig Creek on the 15th hole by visiting it 3 times and wants to change the name to 'HALLS CREEK'.
