Thursday Club:
Bill Rogers made a welcome return to the winners circle in last week's 9 hole event. It was a close tussle, with 3 players all on 31 net, but Bill hung on to win it from Paul Joice and Merv Cotterill. The trio of John Grosskreutz, Adam Stroud and Steve Oliver shared the next best score of 32.
Lance Lloyd completed a double by winning last week's 18 hole event and the previous week as well. These two good rounds ensured he would have to endure quite a few weeks in B Grade. Pascal Neunreuther played well to post a 69 net, just in front of a swag of players on 70 including Benn Ryan and Rob Stanley.
Pin Shots went to Merv Cotterill, Clive Hughes, Peter Scrivens and Rob Stanley.
Saturday:
Saturday saw the running of the Annual Ugly Ducklings Day. A good field of 60 showed up to contest the 3 ball stableford event. The team of Ross and Trish McNeill with Rod Wecker teamed together brilliantly to win the event on a countback on a combined total of 95 points. Unlucky in second place were Caroline Awdry, Bill Miller and Mark Russell, also on 95. Team Red of Trevor Nosworthy, Norm Ryan and Benn Ryan were in third spot on 88.
A swag of pin shots were awarded as was long list of prizes in the rundown. Thanks to all the sponsors who helped out this year.
Holden Scramble:
Our local scramble team of Mike Kavanagh, Troy Dobbins, Simon Dobbins and world famous pro Rob Stanley travelled to Willows Golf Club in Townsville last weekend to contest the regional final. Although they exceeded their own expectations, they were just outside the winning score. They combined brilliantly to shoot 10 under gross for a net of 55 ¾ with the winning score being 54 1/8. A new exciting format is to be revealed for next year's event so be ready for a twist for 2007.
This Weekend:

Dawnbusters
There was an exciting finish to the Dawnies on Sunday when new member Margaret Arnold won the competition on a chip off with Don Schuring who both had 34 nett,
Allan Scott came third with 36 nett. Ian Bishop and Brad Albertson won the pinshots and The ant had the least number of putts. Garry Flannery won the Bradman's prize this week and Bruce Upchurch was the snake putter on a putt off with Margaret.
Whitsunday Golf Club:
The Whitsundays put on another perfect spring day for the Challenge between the Reef Gateway and Jubilee Tavern this Sunday. The Reef Gateway on 281 defeated the Tavern on 308 overall.
The winning team on the day was Jimmy McGaffin, Mick Cooper and Adam Stroud on 30 nett. Runners-up with a nett of 33 were James Miller, Matt & Rick on a count-back from the Philpotts & Tess.
The winning team also cleaned up in the nearest the pin shots, winning both No. 2 and No. 9 holes. No. 4 was won by the Norm Ryan team. Longest drive was won by Paul Verdon's team.
The Bradman's Prize was won by Peter Scott, Adam Stralow and Danny York, but this was not because they played badly, but probably because of the 12 tee shots Danny hit off the 2nd hole (off a coke bottle) which made them get 16 for the hole.
Next week is back to normal with a 9-hole stroke comp.
Friday Chook Run:
The winner of last week's stableford competition was Richard Todd with 26 stableford points on a countback from Alec Bragg. Chris Chengody, Lance Lloyd, Marnie Win and Lloyd Kingston all won balls in the countdown. Ian Budd was not present for the draw so the card draw jackpotted this week.
Juniors:
Friday's competition was keenly contested by 23 juniors and Matthew Bluck, Josh Laughton, Perry Mussared, Daniel Goodall and Dylan Lynch all won balls. Rob McConnell and Frank Goodfellow continue to coach the juniors each Tuesday commencing at 3.30pm, beginners are welcome.
