Thursday saw Mike George have a big win with net 61 from Michael Ward and George Gnezdiloff on 67. Rob Stanley, and Albert Pini had 68. Troy Dobbins won the 9-hole comp with 28 from Don Hope and Mike George on 30 Don Moore had 31. Pins went to James Carmen, Bruce Maeshall, Steve Fahey and Peter Lewis.
50 played in Saturday’s Metropole Monthly Medal which was taken out by James Carman with a net 63. Norm Ryan on 67 was runner up in C grade. Gavin Milne won the A grade with 64 from Trevor Nosworthy on 69. Simon Dobbins won B grade with a 64 from Al Graham on 65. Pins went to Steve Abel, Bernie Malcolm, Mike Trickey, Benn Ryan, Trevor Nosworthy and Simon Dobbins.
The B and C grade rep teams had mixed results with the B grade missing out on the pennant by the narrowest of count-backs and the C grade losing well.
This Saturday will see the Crossley Holden Scramble ambrose for handicapped players only, followed by an informal farewell to Chris Connors.
Dawnbusters
The Dawnies were out bright and early again on Sunday for their 9 hole competition and the winner was Barry Mackenzie with 47 gross/31 nett. George Stevenson was runnerup with 48 gross/33 nett and Bruce Upchurch came third with 49 gross/ 33 nett on a countback.
George also won the pinshot on number 13 and Tom Fleming won the shot on number 16. There were whispers of a Presidential Fix when Brad Albertson was declared the snake putter. Alan Ford, our NZ visitor had the least number of putts with 12 putts.
Arthur Marriot was the winner of the Bradman’s prize this week.
