WHITSUNDAY GOLF CLUB
RESULTS 3rd June, 2007

The trip to Laguna was cancelled and a 9-hole 2-ball Ambrose was played this
morning in perfect weather.

The winners with a 19 net were Darren Williams and Nita Luken.
Runners-up were Paul and Elaine Philpott with a 21 net.

2 of the nearest the pins were won by the team of Dean Kercher and Joey
Dalton and the other pin was won by Kerry hall and Mal Carter.

Longest Drives were won by Joey Dalton and Nita Luken.

Next week the club is going away to Yeppoon so there will be no competition,
but the following week, the Haliday Bay players are coming up to play us in
an 18-hole 2-ball Ambrose competition, teeing off at 7am.

Juniors
Frank and Mark coached the juniors on Friday while the Farmers and Millers Day was on the course so no competition results are available this week. The competition will be expanded to 9 holes this week.Thursday Club:
     Jason Evans took out the 9 hole hole comp last week by two shots with 24 points. Kelvin Stephens was next best on 22 just ahead of Tom Phillips, Rod Wecker and Gary Flannery, all on 21 points.
     The 18 hole comp was won by Russell Reardon on 39 points. John Grosskreutz was next best on 38 along with Peter Hull.
Pascal Neunreuther was in the rundown on 38 as was Peter Scrivens, Bill Woods, Bruce Munro and Bob Croker.
     Pin Shots went to Adam Tester, Brad Albertson and Pascal Neunreuther.
 
Mens Club Championships:
     The 2007 Club Championships were finalised on Saturday after the first round was played the previous weekend. All grades were tightly contested with just one shot separating the top players in both A and B grade.
     The top 2 A grade players were never more than 2 shots apart all day but Ray Plant prevailed from Mark Trims within the last two holes. A long range birdie putt on the second last hole put Ray in front by one shot and he parred the last hole to secure the Club Champion title.
     Mark was the overall nett winner ahead of Trevor Nosworthy while Gavin Milne was the gross runner-up.
     The B Grade title was also a close one with Troy Smith having to draw on all his resources to hold out the ever improving Simon Dobbins. Troy's total of 249 got him home by one shot.
     Simon was awarded the best nett with Matt Goldman nett runner-up. Bill Foot returned to good form to grab B Grade gross runner-up.
     Daniel Jackson had a comfortable 8 shot victory in C Grade after he posted a 54 hole total of 260. Gary Scotford was next best on 268. Chris gates was the nett winner on 202 just ahead of another improving junior in Chris Elms.

Monthly Medal:
     The June Monthly Medal was played in conjunction with the final round of the club championships. Andrew Mau posted a fantastic 60 nett to win the overall mug and C Grade medal. Daniel Jackson was next best in C Grade with a 66 nett.
     Bill Foot played well to card a 63 nett, winning the B Grade medal from by 2 shots from Simon Dobbins on 65.
     Trevor Nosworthy handed in a 65 nett aswell, which was good enough to win the A Grade medal from Rob Stanley on 67.
     Pin Shots went to Gavin Milne, Troy Smith, Mark Richards, Simon Dobbins and Lance Lloyd shanked one close on 16.

This Saturday:
     With a lot of players attending the North Qld Open this weekend, a single stableford club day will be held from 11am. See you there.

Dawnbusters:
     Tom Fleming slugged his way to a 37 nett on Sunday, winning the mug by just one shot from Skello on 38. Arthur Marriot was plastered but still staggered in with a 40 nett. Allan Scott miss hit his driver and somehow got it close on number 13 while Pascal, Jack Spruce, Skello and Allan Greedy bagged the other pin shots.
