The juniors at Proserpine golf have had two very busy weeks with two junior opens.
First they took on the blustery conditions at Proserpine for our junior open. In the 18 holes Matt Bluck had one of
his best rounds playing the back coming in with an 83 and two shots behind the overall winners to take out the
overall nett winner and B grade gross winner.
Tom Dyall has started to correct a few errors to be able to come in a 39 nett and pick up nett runner up in 9 hole
div 1. Matt Bower has taken well to the change to 9 hole div 2 by smashing his opponents with a 52 to win gross
from fellow newcomer from Proserpine, Jack Werner, who shot a fantastic 60 in his first junior open and picked up
gross runner up.
In the 9 hole girls Emma Bluck continued her great form and shot only four shots behind the winner by shooting a 59
on the back and picked up nett winner. Rebecca O'Neil was our final competitor for Proserpine who played some
exceptional golf playing in her first tournament in the 6 holes picking up some areas to focus on and great
enthusiasm to play in her next open.
Last Saturday we had Matt Bluck, Emma Bluck and Mathew Bower head off to Glenden to compete in their junior open
and to show their competitors that they mean business.
In the 18 holes Matt Bluck defeated his opponents to take out gross winner and win the accuracy drive. Mathew Bower
has not looked back since making his move to 9 hole and smashed his opponents and his handicap again winning gross
winner and nearest to the pin.
Emma Bluck showed that Proserpine's girls are able to match their competitors shooting a 65 – only 1 shot behind
the winner and winning gross runner up and accuracy drive.
Well played by all the competitors over the two tournaments and thank you to Bob Platt and Roseanne Apps for their
help with the kids over the last few weeks and to the parents and Julie for their help at our open.
Juniors will be having two weeks off for the school holidays and we look forward to seeing you on the course from
Tuesday the 4th of October. |
